Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences, Dehradun was propelled to success by the present Sajjada Nashin Sri Mahant Devendra Das Ji, the successor of the highest seat of Udaseen Sect. He dedicated this institution to the name of Sri Guru Ram Rai ji Maharaj, the eldest son of the seventh Guru of the Sikhs- Sri Har Raiji. Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji established his DERA in Doon valley which later became popular as DEHRA and thus Dehradun owes its name and history to the emergence of Sri Guru Ram Raiji’s “Dera” in 1676 in area now called Dehradun.

SGRRIM&HS is stretched over a gigantic 30 acres of land. The institute have 150 seats in MBBS and 96 seats in Postgraduate (MD/MS). A team of dedicated and learned faculty makes this institution a centre of excellence for medical education. Lecture theatres, laboratories, museums and dissection hall are all fitted with the utmost modern equipment’s to facilitate learning in students, so as to enable these apprentice doctors to deal efficiently with delicate human machinery in future.

All departments comprise of computer facilities including a campus wide LAN internet system. Students have been provided with very comfortable hostel and mess facilities. They are always encouraged to avail facilities of the central library, sports and to participate in extracurricular activities of the college. Students along with faculties are also, taken to visit remote villages to impart community health services, regularly. Spacious and well-ventilated residences of the faculties within the beautiful surrounding of the college campus make a contented stay.

Lecture Theatre

Lecture Theatre – Five, with all audio-visual facilities. 3(180) + 1(350) + 1(200) Three lecture halls are with a seating capacity of 180 each and one with 350 seating capacity. All are provided with a side room and a projection room. Examination Hall 2X250 Seats, Auditorium 750 Seats. Lecture theatres are also used for guest lectures, clinical meetings, debates and quiz contests, conferences/seminars/workshops, and cultural activities including film shows.

Audio amplifying system including audio mixers and speakers with cord and cordless mikes (collar & hand mikes). Audio recording and playing facilities. Projection facilities including motorized screens, overhead projectors, LCD projectors, DVD player and laptops for PowerPoint presentations. Electronic cable connection with cameras between the surgical operation theatre of the hospital and the lecture theatre for direct interactive audio-visual transmission of surgeries to the audience in the lecture theatre.

Central Library

The SGRRIMHS has a Centralized A.C. Central Library, which supports the teaching and extension programmes of the college. The Central Library is Fully Automated using ” SOUL” (Software for university library under command of INFLIBNET Centre Ahmedabad) as a Library Software and well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of books, journals, back volume of journals, WHO publications, CD ROMs and internet services. The library strives to provide timely, accurate and current information, and to provide an appropriate and comfortable academic environment for the users.

Animal House

The Central Animal House is located behind the Examination Hall in the medical college. It has been registered with Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA) for “Education” and Research for Educational Purpose” on small animals with a registration number 1787/PO/Ere/S/14/CPCSEA. It is a well-equipped animal house with separate rooms for each species of small animals like Rats, Mice, Guinea Pigs and Rabbits.

Besides these, there is a Quarantine Room, Experimental Room, OT Room, Autoclave Room, Store Room, Changing Room, Staff Office and an Office for Veterinary Surgeon. The Animal House is surrounded by lush green lawn and plants. The Meetings of the Central Animal House are conducted regularly.

The associated Shri Mahant Indiresh hospital is a 750 bedded multi-specialty and super speciality hospital situated in the heart of the city nearly 2 km from both the railway station & bus terminal. The Hospital caters to about 3000 patients on a daily basis under the direct supervision & humane touch of the medical specialists.

The staff of the hospital includes about 400+ doctors and 800+ paramedical. Eligibility & Admission Process for Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences, Dehradun

Eligibility MBBS

– Pass with minimum 50 % marks in Intermediate (Bi.P.C)

– Must Qualify in NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test)
