About Mayo Institute of Medical Sciences

Born in Azamgarh on 3rd January, 1956, Dr Kailash Narayan Singh – founder of Mayo Hospital and Mayo Institute of Medical Sciences – was a zealous visionary who was blessed with a progressive intellect. He was indefatigable in his mission to serve the sick and the infirm, the poor and the needy. His efforts to serve humanity were highly commendable and his contribution to society was especially laudable.

Dr K. N. Singh started his education in 1960 as a first grader in Stanstead College, Canada. Thereafter, he moved to the US in 1967 where he graduated from Ridley High School, Folsom, Pennsylvania, in 1972. He was drafted for the US Army but, as his conscience could not accept the indiscriminate killing of people, he moved to India.

He did his MBBS (1973 – 1978) from Magadh University, Bodh Gaya, Bihar, and subsequently returned to the US to study for his USMLE. He did his MD from Pennsylvania Medical School and started working there although he also worked at Saint Barnabas Medical Centre while in New York.

Dr K. N. Singh ultimately shifted base to India in 1996. His primary aspiration was to establish a hospital since he was motivated by an intense desire to provide medical facilities and services to the community. His ceaseless efforts resulted in fruition when he succeeded in opening the first Trauma Centre in Eastern UP.

He founded Mayo Institute of Medical Sciences which was the first private Medical College in UP to be granted permission for 250 students because of ginormous infrastructure and outstanding academic facilities. He worked tirelessly and incessantly to nurture Mayo and raise it to exemplary heights.

Lecture Theatres

Four lecture theatres each lecture hall of 180 seating capacity with Audio Visual Training aids i.e., PA System, Computer, LCD Projector, White Screen, Green Board etc. & Provision for E-Class. One Additional Lecture Theatre For the use of Hospital is available Audio-Visual Training aids i.e., PA System, Computer, LCD Projector, White Screen, Green Board etc.

Demonstration Rooms

2 Demonstration rooms with a seating capacity for 90 with Audio Visual Teaching aids i.e., Computer, LCD, Projector, White Screen, Green Board, OHP, TV etc. is available in each Pre-Clinical & Para Clinical Department. One Demonstration room is available in each OPD & ward.

Common Rooms

Girls & Boys Common Rooms available with attached toilets.

Practical Laboratory

6 Laboratory of 225 sq. meter with attached preparation room and store room and 3 small Labs of 90 Sq. meter for Anatomy, Biochemistry & Physiology department available. Apart from this every Pre-Clinical & Para clinical department having its own Research Laboratory.

Central Library

Central Library of area is 2700 Sq. meter is available with Air-conditioning & Audio-Visual System.

Hostel & Mess

The institution has modern hostel facilities separately for boys and girls which have a visitor room, a study room with facilities for computer Wi-Fi internet, a recreational facility room having T.V, Music, indoors games etc and mess facilities for the students make them feel in a home away from home.

Eligibility & Admission Process for Mayo Institute of Medical Sciences

Eligibility MBBS

– Pass with minimum 50 % marks in Intermediate (Bi.P.C)

– Must Qualify in NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test)

Admission Process

Admission to the MBBS programme is based on candidates’ performance in NEET. Once the NEET results are declared, then the eligible candidates are called for counselling process.
