Government Medical College Dindigul is one of the best government medical colleges in Tamil Nadu. Government Medical College Dindigul is affiliated with The Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai, which was established in 2021.

The Government of Tamil Nadu has allotted 20.59 Acres of Land to establish a new Government Medical College within the distance of 5Km from teaching Hospital.

This Government Medical College Hospital, Dindigul was actually functional as District Head Quarters Hospital since 1955.  Hospital campus has total area of11.514 Acres of Land.  This hospital has been upgraded as Government Medical College Hospital in the year 2019.

Faculty Block

• The Faculty Block of the college harbors the channel for academics.

Hostel and Accommodation

• Accommodation for students is provided via hostel. The boys and girls’ hostel are well maintained, clean and secure place to stay.
• Apart from accommodation for students there are quarters for higher officials like Dean, Resident Medical Officer and Assistant Resident Medical Officer to reside.
• There are also quarters available for the teaching staff.

Auditorium

• The college has an air-conditioned Auditorium with 600 plus seating capacity to host medical conferences and cultural events. It has an inbuilt audio-video visual aids to enhance the experience during various functions.

Sports and Fitness

• The college has a main ground and alongside with it there is also a volleyball court, badminton court (open air), basketball court, throwball court for improving performance in sports. There are teams for sports like football, volleyball, throwball, basketball, badminton and cricket. Indoor sporting activities include carrom and chess. Both the hostels and staff residential quarters have gymnasium for a healthy workout.

Eligibility & Admission Process for Government Medical College, Dindigul

Eligibility MBBS

– Pass with minimum 50 % marks in Intermediate (Bi.P.C)

– Must Qualify in NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test)
