GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, popularly known as GIMSR, was established in the year 2015. It is the first deemed medical college in the private sector in Andhra Pradesh, established beside the picturesque GITAM University in Rushikonda, Visakhapatnam, with all modern amenities conducive to student learning. Today, GIMSR is a name synonymous with quality medical education which attracts people not only from Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring Telangana but also from other states across India.

GIMSR has one of the most pleasing learning environments in Andhra Pradesh with infrastructure and faculty that support students to hone their skills to become outstanding medical professionals. The GIMSR Sports Club mission is to provide students with a unique opportunity to develop sporting and leadership opportunities, organizational and fiscal management skills in a fun and safe sporting environment where participants can build a sense of community and camaraderie.

The skill lab houses basic and advanced skill trainer mannequins. The focus is on developing technical and communication skills and team work. All the sessions are conducted by a team of dedicated trainers who are not only very experienced but also very passionate about continuously upgrading the facility so as to make it a centre of excellence.

• Diagnostic Laboratories

A recent addition to the Diagnostic Armamentarium of the Medical College, established in the Department of Microbiology – NABL Accredited, ICMR approved Biosafety level 2 Laboratory for detection and quantification of known and unknown viral pathogens. Infectious diseases can be diagnosed rapidly with ease and specificity especially for those which are non cultivable. Valuable tool in outbreaks, epidemics and pandemics.

• Lecture Halls

The desire to learn will awaken a person in a right setting. A glance at the class rooms of GIMSR will initiate the desire to learn. The 5 Lecture Theatres are air-conditioned with seating capacity of 180 each are well equipped with audio visual teaching aids and e-class facilities.

• Bank

An extension counter of Union Bank of India is situated within the campus to cater the need of students and staff members for maintaining saving account with minimum balance. This bank offers all facilities available from any premiere standard bank of India to its customers. This fully computerized bank offers world-class services and gives the students and people in campus an ease to handle their money

• Hostels

A majority of the students come from other cities and towns. Therefore, providing residential facilities becomes a prime task. GIMSR has laid out well demarcated hostels for boys and girls separately. Nurses too have been allotted separate hostels. The living conditions are comfortable to meet their requirements. Hygienic and nutritious food is provided in the Canteen. At all times safety and security of the people residing in the campus is ensured and assured. T.V. rooms and indoor gym facilities are provided.

• NSS

NSS GIMSR UNIT XVII has been always on their toes to serve and spread awareness. Since 2016 we have whole heartedly and proudly served the needy, organized events, awareness camps and medical camps free of cost and have taken a pledge to do so in future. We also have adopted a few schools (primary school at Marikavalasa, Mangamarpeta High School, Balasadan a Government run Girls orphanage at Bheemili).

GITAM Hospital was started in the year 2010 in an unitary campus of 29.9 acres. Our 29-acre area includes sophisticated learning resources such as e libraries, labs and museums. It also has a full range of student amenities such as hostels, cafeteria, gyms and recreation facilities. Our ultra modern infrastructural facilities motivate the Staff & Students alike, to scale greater heights. The State-of-the-art facilities include 11 Operation Theatres(9 major, 2 minor), a Post Operative Ward, Acute Medical Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Burns Intensive Care Unit (BURNS ICU).

GIMSR is endowed 24 hours Central Laboratory under the supervision of qualified Pathologist, Micro-biologist and Biochemist for all routine and special Hematological, Serological, Micro Biological and Bio-chemical tests. The Radiology department is provided with X-ray machines of 600 MA, 400 MA and two mobile x-rays (100 MA and 60 MA) supported by two Ultrasound Machines. Ambulance services (2 Nos.) are made available at Hospital premises round the clock (24 x 7).
