About Dr B R Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences, SAS Nagar, Mohali

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Medical Education (AIMS) is the 4th government-aided medical college of Punjab. The institution situated on the outskirts of Mohali in Sector 56. The Institute announced to establish a medical college attached to the existing district hospital. Recently, the college has applied to the National Medical Commission for permitting an annual intake of 100 medical students to the undergraduate program. AIMS Mohali is an autonomous society under state government and affiliated with Baba Farid university of health sciences, Faridkot, Punjab.

The Medical college has two interconnected blocks-Academic Block and Hostel block. The academic block houses the office of the Director Principal, administrative offices, Committee room, and various departments. There are lecture theatres, Skill Labs and Central Library.

Central Library

CENTRAL Library started its initial activities, more than a year before the actual starting of the MBBS session (Batch 2021-2022) in February 2022 at the third floor of the academic building. It has books (nearly 3000), journals and reading space for both students and faculty. The library has a separate reading facility for faculty and for holding meetings of library committee members. An Interactive panel is installed in the faculty room for teachers to deliver online lectures if required and to hold online meetings for students or faculty.

Hostel

The hostel block has mess area, hostel rooms, common rooms, gymnasium and sports complex. All rooms have an attached bathroom and balcony. The common rooms are well equipped with a television and a gymnasium separate for boys and girls. Apart from sports complex there is area for an open-air gym too. Additionally, it has child care facilities and suite rooms for guests. In addition to the existing college and hospital blocks the new college building is planned at Jujhar Nagar area for which foundation stone has already been laid .

Teaching Hospital

The Teaching hospital and medical college are inter-connected with a 2 min walking distance. Hospital consists of two Blocks-block 1 and block 2. It is a 330-bedded hospital with 15 units of different specialties. In last 6 months the hospital recorded OPD attendance of 1 lakh 30 thousand (700 per day) The major operation theatres recorded a load of 1754 cases in the last 6 months. All specialties have separate wards for male and female inpatient admissions. AIMS Mohali campus has a physically handicapped-friendly, separate parking areas, a cafeteria, and is well connected with Urban and Rural health centres for training undergraduates under community medicine.

Eligibility & Admission Process for Dr B R Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences, SAS Nagar, Mohali

Eligibility MBBS

– Pass with minimum 50 % marks in Intermediate (Bi.P.C)

– Must Qualify in NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test)

Admission Process

Admission to the MBBS programme is based on candidates’ performance in NEET. Once the NEET results are declared, then the eligible candidates are called for counselling process.
