Vanguard University School of Medicine Originally established as the Southern California Bible School in Los Angeles, it moved to Pasadena in 1927. In 1939, it was formally chartered by the State of California as Southern California Bible College, the first four-year college of the Assemblies of God. The college was recognized by the government in 1943 as a school for training military chaplains.
