The Birth of the Redbrick Legacy (1889–1902)

In 1889, a turning point was marked with the building of the now-iconic Victoria Building, its design commissioned by prominent architect Alfred Waterhouse. Through the support of local philanthropists, the redbrick structure was made a beacon of civic pride and intellectual aspiration.
