Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College was founded in 1992, initially collaborating with Mohammad Ali Hospital in Bogura. In 2006, a new campus and hospital facility was constructed on the outskirts of Bogura city, alongside the Dhaka-Rangpur highway, named in honor of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, who was born in Bogura. The new campus in Silimpur officially opened on August 31, 2006. Initially, about 50 students were admitted annually through a nationwide examination for public medical colleges. Since 2005, the admission capacity has increased to approximately 150 students.
