Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen Faculteit der Medische Wetenschappen Nijmegen Accreditations, Affiliations, Recognitions
The university’s first few decades were characterized by sacrifice and endurance, especially in World War II, when it suffered great losses. Some of its notable professors, such as Robert Regout and Titus Brandsma, were arrested for their open involvement in resistance actions against the Nazi regime.
Unfortunately, both lost their lives in the Dachau concentration camp. Besides these individual losses, the university also lost some of its significant facilities, such as the main building at Keizer Karelplein, which it lost in the war.
In spite of these challenges, Radboud University persisted and developed, molding itself into one of the top research universities in the Netherlands. On 17 October 2023, the university joyfully celebrated its 100th anniversary.
This milestone of a century not only celebrated a century of academic achievement and endurance but also commemorated the university’s enduring legacy to students, researchers, staff, and society as a whole.
