Since the establishment of the university, it has witnessed marvelous development and growth. Due to the increase in the number of high school graduates across Qassim, the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques supported the university in furthering its goal of increasing opportunities in higher education.
Because of this, the university was able to add nine teachers’ colleges and girls’ colleges of education during the 1427–1428 AH academic year. In the same academic year of 1428–1429 AH, the university also added four health colleges that were under the Ministry of Health. Through such expansions, Qassim University has become a comprehensive institution with a total number of 38 colleges across 12 governorates, in addition to its main campus at Al-Malida.
