The establishment of the Faculty of Medicine was an outcome of the historic visit by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, to the Northern Border region in 1427 AH (2007 AD). On this occasion, several colleges were established, one of which was the Faculty of Medicine in Arar, considered the first medical college in the Northern Border area, initially admitting 30 male and 30 female students.
About Northern Borders University College of Medicine Arar
This program was developed in cooperation with King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah. The first two years study the basic medical subjects, followed by clinical courses and then an internship year. The study system in the first and second years is based on semesters, while in the third to sixth years, the student will take short integrated modules studying one course at a time before moving to another.

In the early days, the male students took classes in the Science Building that was previously the Education College building. On the other hand, female students studied at Health College, which was then in the Al-Musaedia District. The clinical sciences phase students were transferred to the Faculty of Medicine’s Clinical Affairs Building next to Prince Abdulaziz bin Musaed Hospital in 1433 AH.
