The Modern University for Technology and Information (MTI) was founded by Presidential Decree No. 430 of 2004 as a private university with administrative supervision by the Ministry of Higher Education. It was set up as an independent legal entity with its own legal framework, dedicated to academic quality, creativity, and service to society.
The University operates under Law No. 49 of 1972 on the organization of Egyptian universities, Law No. 12 of 2009 on the establishment of private and civil universities, and the respective regulatory laws endorsed by the Board of Trustees on 27 February 2006. These legal provisions guarantee that MTI operates with credibility, transparency, and adherence to the highest national education standards.
Academic operations in MTI began in the 2005/2006 academic year with the establishment of the Faculty of Computer Science and the Faculty of Business Management, pursuant to Ministerial Decree No. 2079 dated August 7, 2005.
The University grew again in the 2006/2007 academic year through Presidential Decree No. 350 of 2006, which created the Faculty of Mass Communication and the Faculty of Engineering. Classes in the two faculties began officially under Ministerial Decree No. 3033 of November 30, 2006.
Following its gradual expansion, MTI launched the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Nursing in the 2009/2010 academic year under Presidential Decree No. 301 of 2009 and then Ministerial Decree No. 3195 on October 7, 2009. The addition represented the university’s determination to cater to the increasing needs of Egypt’s pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
