The inauguration of the academic year was formally conducted on 20th November 1948, with the guidance of the first Rector, Professor Nowakowski, an eminent specialist in hygiene. Throughout the coming decades, the institution grew steadily, both academically and in terms of student numbers, consolidating its position as a leading medical education center in the area.
