Jinzhou Medical University (JZMU) was initially founded in 1946 in the Liberation War as Liaoji Military Region Health School in Taonan, Jilin Province. The college was moved to Jinzhou in Liaoning Province in 1949, and in 1958, it was upgraded to Jinzhou Medical College. It was renamed Liaoning Medical College in 2006 and eventually Jinzhou Medical University in 2016. The university now occupies an area of 994,987.60 square meters.
