It houses the main library, student services, career services, and study zones. It’s open 24/7, with silent study areas, group pods/rooms, computers, printing services and a rooftop terrace/garden.
- For students in science, health, technology, social care, media, arts and more — there are specialist, discipline-specific facilities:
- The Technology Hub — houses high-spec computing and engineering labs. It includes the UK’s first “CAVE” (Computer Augmented Virtual Environment): a fully immersive 3D virtual environment for simulations, research, and interactive work.
- For health, social care and medicine students, there is the Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre — with operating-theatre simulation, anatomy/ultrasound resources, clinical-skills labs, consultation rooms and a “Better-at-Home Suite” that simulates home social-care environments. This helps in realistic, hands-on training.
- For arts, media, performance, and creative courses: the Creative Edge and the Arts Centre provide TV studios, recording studios, radio, animation, photographic studios, rehearsal rooms, theatre and performance spaces (studio theatre, main theatre), digital media labs, etc. Great for students in media, design, drama, music, film, etc.
- For geoscience, environmental science and geography — there are specialized labs: physically-oriented geology/soil/rock-testing labs, geotechnical engineering labs, analytical & research labs, enabling real-world research and practical learning.

- According to student feedback and recent evaluation, Edge Hill ranks 3rd in the UK for university facilities (Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2023).
Accommodation & Student Living (Relevant for PG & All Students)
- The campus includes modern, well-maintained halls of residence. Among them, the Central Halls is one — located at the heart of campus, close to Students’ Union and central amenities.
- Central Halls provide en-suite rooms, shared kitchens and living spaces, with utilities and Wi-Fi included.
- However, it’s important to note: some sources mention that halls of residence might not always be guaranteed for postgraduate students; PG students may need to rely on off-campus housing or private accommodation. The university offers support for PG students to find accommodation — through partnerships with local landlords, accommodation-search services, and “house-hunting” assistance.
- For international students, rooms come furnished (bed, wardrobe, desk, chair), with utilities included; kitchens are shared among a cluster, and personal utensils need to be provided by students.
Sports, Fitness & Recreation Facilities
- The Sports Centre at Edge Hill is a major highlight — with a fully equipped 80-station fitness suite/gym, aerobics/dance studios, a 25-metre swimming pool, sports hall with spectator gallery, sauna & steam rooms, lounge and café areas.
- Outdoor sports infrastructure includes an eight-lane floodlit athletics track (among the largest in Europe), multiple grass pitches for football/rugby, 3G football/rugby pitches, floodlit AstroTurf/hockey pitch, tennis and netball courts, courts for other sports, and a 2.5 km conditioning trail — offering huge variety for sporting, recreational or fitness-oriented students.
- For students studying sport, physical activity, therapy or rehabilitation — there are specialist labs and a sports-therapy/rehabilitation clinic integrated with their courses.
Student Life, Social Spaces & Extra-Curricular Facilities
- The campus includes a modern Students’ Union building — recently redeveloped — with indoor social spaces for studying during the day or for events/activities in the evening. This serves as the social and cultural heart of campus.
- The campus hub area features shops, dining/food outlets (cafés, retail, eateries), convenient for students living on campus or commuting.
- For arts, drama, media and creative students — the Arts Centre (theatre, studios, production suites) and Creative Edge provide great opportunities for performances, productions, exhibitions, and creative work.
