About Chengdu Medical College

Initially a military medical college affiliated with the Third Military Medical University, the college changed its administration to civilian control in August 2004 according to a decision by the State Council and the Central Military Commission. It was then formally renamed Chengdu Medical College at that time. The college began undergraduate studies in 2000 and was authorized to award bachelor’s degrees in 2006. It became a master’s degree awarding institution in 2011.

Chengdu Medical College’s dedication to excellence was again noted in 2012 when it was chosen as one of the first batch of universities under the National Outstanding Doctor Education Training Program Pilot Universities. In 2013, the college smoothly passed the Ministry of Education undergraduate teaching evaluation. 

In addition, the Sichuan Senior Care and Elderly Health Collaborative Innovation Center led by the college was approved as a first-“2011 Plan” project of Sichuan Province. Chengdu Medical College was the province’s first school to successfully pass the clinical medicine professional accreditation by the Ministry of Education in 2016. 

During that year, it was also accredited as a Sichuan Provincial Demonstration College for further strengthening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform and was chosen in the Ministry of Education’s “Hundred Schools Project” to innovate. It was also further approved as a Sichuan Provincial Distance Continuing Medical Education Pilot Operation Institution during 2018 and was established as one of the country’s first Geriatric Medicine Training Centers (Southwest region).
