Armenian Medical Institute Faculty of Medicine “Armenian Medical Institute” (AMI) was founded in 1990. It is the first private medical institution of higher education in post-Soviet territory. It was accredited by the state in 2001.

About Armenian Medical Institute Faculty of Medicine

More than 150 highly qualified specialists work for the Institute: Doctors of Science, professors, candidates of sciences and associate professors. Today 54 chairs and cycles operate in AMI. The chairs of AMI are located in its own building as well as in 25 clinical bases, which are considered to be the leading medical centers of the republic. “Erebouni” Medical Center is the main educational production base of the Institute. Two faculties operate in AMI: therapeutic and dental.

In 2015, AMI celebrated its 25th anniversary. Over the years, the Institute has trained several generations of doctors who successfully passed exams both in our country and abroad. Many graduates of the Institute have defended their Ph.D. theses. Today some of them are lecturing at their native Institute. The Institute has a Student Council, which represents student problems.

The Institute publishes the magazine “Erebоuni”, which aims to highlight the life and events of the Institute. The main governing body of the Institute is the Board of Directors. The activity of the Institute is managed by the rector. The faculty is administered by the deans. 

The Education Quality Assurance Center operates at the Institute. The scientific and educational work of the Institute is supervised by the Scientific Council of the Institute. AMI strives to introduce and develop advanced educational programs and methods as well as to develop a healthy moral and psychological atmosphere.

The MBBS program at the Armenian Medical Institute lasts for a total of six years. The course structure is broken up into two separate periods that include the following. The University of Traditional Medicine’s MBBS program is 5 years long. Additionally, however, the course structure also includes a year of internship. Students receive a doctoral degree after graduating from the Armenian Medical Institute.
