In the end, the battle resulted in a protective palm for the British, compelling the Afrika Korps to retreat and stopping their advance on the Suez Canal in what would eventually be known as the Six- Day Race.

The Second Battle of El Alamein( 1942)

The Second Battle of El Alamein on 23 October to 4 November 1942 was a turning point in the North African campaign of World War II. once again, the British Eighth Army led by Montgomery opposed Rommel’s Afrika Korps. 

Here, the British enjoyed receptive superiority in numbers and equipment — deploying more than a thousand tanks(twice the German strength), more than 450 heavy artillery, and unchallengeable air support. Contrary to, Rommel’s troops were hampered by obsolescent equipment, timid air support, and acute force shortages. 

Following fierce combat for days, the British then made a decisive descent that compelled the Axis forces to retreat. The palm at El Alamein not only protected Egypt and the Suez Canal but also turned the initiation of the war towards the Abettors, earning one of the most famous palms of World War II.
