Anhui University of Science and Technology College of Medicine AMC has received the official approval of the Anhui Provincial People’s Government and been registered with the Ministry of Education and thus been incorporated into Anhui Province’s “14th Five-Year Plan” to be promoted into a comprehensive undergraduate medical university. Based in Hefei City, Anhui Medical College occupies three campuses: Wuhu Road Campus, Furong Road Campus, and Xinqiao Campus, with a combined area of 78.84 hectares. As of now, the college has admitted about 12,000 full-time higher vocational students and 330 undergraduate students under joint training programs.

The college has its origins in Hefei Health School, which was founded in 1955. It was moved to Chaohu City in 1969 and later back to Hefei in September 1974, where it was reorganized as the Anhui Provincial Health Cadre Training School. The original Hefei Health School was resumed in July 1978. In June 2001, it was elevated to Anhui Health Vocational and Technical College, and by March 2002, it had officially come to be known as Anhui Medical College (AMC).

Anhui Medical University (AHMU) is a provincial key university jointly established by the Anhui Provincial Government, the National Health and Family Planning Commission, and the Ministry of Education. Its origin goes back to the Private Southeast Medical University, established in Shanghai in 1926, which later came to be known as Southeast Medical College in 1930.

Anhui University of Science and Technology College of Medicine moved to Huaiyuan, Anhui Province, at the end of 1949, becoming the first higher medical education university in the province, and later shifted to Hefei and was renamed Anhui Medical College in 1952, finally becoming Anhui Medical University in 1985.
