About Anhui Medical University

Anhui Medical University – China Its history goes back to 1926 when Private Southeast Medical University was founded in Shanghai, which was later renamed Southeast Medical College in 1930. It moved to Huaiyuan, Anhui Province, in 1949 and became the first higher medical education school in Anhui, subsequently moving to Hefei in 1952 and renaming itself Anhui Medical College. In 1985, it was formally named Anhui Medical University.

Anhui Medical University, with a long history tracing back to 1926, was founded as Dongnam Medical College in Shanghai. The college moved to Huayuan County in Anhui Province at the end of 1949. Then in 1952, it moved once again to Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province. In this process, Dongnam Medical College was renamed to Anhui Medical College. In June of 1996, the college was approved to become a university by the National Committee on Education and officially gained the title Anhui Medical University.

Now, Anhui Medical University has become a comprehensive and renowned medical university. It has 24 directly affiliated teaching units and ten affiliated hospitals. Moreover, it cooperates with 42 clinical schools and has partnerships with 37 teaching hospitals, aided by more than 100 professional practice and teaching bases in China. The university provides various types of academic programs, including 29 undergraduate majors.

For graduate education, it offers eight doctoral degree programs, five top-class discipline master’s programs, 64 master’s degree programs, and five specialized professional degree programs.
