NEET UG 2025: NMC Releases New Guidelines for Medical Aspirants

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has shared an important message. This warning is for students and parents who are planning to take admission in medical colleges in India or abroad.

NMC Warns Against Fake Medical Colleges and Easy Admission Offers

The NMC has found that some fake or unauthorized medical colleges are offering admission without proper approval. These colleges may promise easy admissions or offer courses in other countries that are not legal in India.

The National Medical Commission has clearly said that students who study in such colleges will not be allowed to take the FMGE exam. FMGE is the test you must pass to get a medical license in India after studying abroad. If a student joins an unapproved college, it is the student’s full responsibility, and they will not be allowed to work as a doctor in India.

Fake Colleges Under Investigation

Two institutions are currently being investigated:

  • Singhania University, Rajasthan
  • Saniban Hospital and Medical College, Howrah (West Bengal)

These places are being checked for offering medical courses without permission. Legal action is already being taken against one of them.

How to Check if a Medical College is Approved

To stay safe, students and parents should follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official NMC website: www.nmc.org.in to check the list of approved medical colleges.
  2. Call or email the NMC if someone gives you a recognition letter or promises direct admission without NEET.
  3. Don’t trust only college websites or ads. Some fake colleges use false information to attract students.
  4. Remember: National Medical Commission does not give admission to any medical college directly.

NMC Guidelines for  MBBS Abroad

1. NEET Qualification: NEET is mandatory for Indian students who wish to study MBBS abroad and the NEET Qualification will be valid for 3 years.

2. Choose NMC-Approved Colleges: verify the college that is approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). You can check the approved list on the NMC website.

3. Check the Course Duration: MBBS abroad usually takes 5 to 6 years, including internship in the same country . According to the National Medical Commission regulations, the duration of MBBS must be 54 months or more.

4. The Candidate must study the subjects listed in the Schedule 1 of NMC.

5. Must Pass FMGE/NEXT to Practice Medicine in India:  After completing MBBS abroad, the candidate must pass the FMGE or NEXT exam to get a license in India.

6. Language of Study Should Be English:  Make sure the college teaches in English.

7. Check if the Degree is Accepted in That Country:  If you plan to work abroad, make sure the degree is valid in that country too.

Important Tips for Students and Parents

  • Don’t believe fake offers: No college can give you admission without NEET. NEET is the only way to get into a medical college in India or Abroad.
  • Check before paying: Always confirm if the college is approved by NMC before paying any fees.
  • Report fake colleges: If you hear about any college offering medical seats illegally, report it to the NMC.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, Indian students must ensure that any program they choose domestically or abroad has the proper accreditation and meets legal requirements in India. As NEET UG 2025 approaches, staying vigilant and informed is the key to a successful and safe medical journey. Therefore, if you want to study or get admission in India or abroad, it is crucial to verify accreditation of a college whether it is NMC approved or not.
