Overview of Cranfield University
Cranfield University has a long-standing legacy built on its commitment to applied research in science, technology, and management. Its origins trace back to 1946 with the establishment of the College of Aeronautics at the RAF station in Cranfield, Bedfordshire. Through the 1950s and 1960s, the institution expanded greatly as aircraft research and design improvements led to wider academic diversification, including manufacturing and management.
About Cranfield University
The School of Management was founded in 1967, and in 1969 the College of Aeronautics was given the right to award full degrees through a Royal Charter, changing its name to the Cranfield Institute of Technology. In more recent times, Cranfield has continued to grow, including the establishment of an academic partnership with the Defence Academy of the UK at Shrivenham.
