Such massive data plays a major role in hematologic investigation and clinical practice in Japan.
In 2024, the Graduate School of Nursing was approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) for initiating doctoral programs (Ph.D. and DNP courses). Through these programs, the university hopes to develop advanced clinical nurses and expert educators, giving it a leading position in advanced nursing practice and education in the country.
In order to develop a better student learning environment, Aichi Medical University has increased its seminar rooms in the Ishinkan Building and introduced new facilities like a Starbucks café and an improved restaurant called “Orange.” These facilities have immensely enriched the campus life, offering students and teachers lively spaces for relaxation, study, and discussion.
For academic excellence, the university has been subject to various external assessments:
- The Medical Education Specialty Assessment (2019)

Towards the future, the university is gearing up towards educational reforms tackling changing patterns of diseases. And the management of chronic illness. The university intends to promote synergy between specialists at Aichi Medical University and domestic GPs, developing an innovative model of circulatory healthcare—stopping disease in its tracks through holistic medical practice and learning. The Medical Center and university hospital will remain central platforms for these initiatives.
In medical research, Aichi Medical University has achieved much. The Biobank Department, one of the Research Creation Support Center’s sections, has been growing rapidly and is the first privately owned medical university biobank certified by the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED). It now collects and stores biological samples—mainly cancer tissues and patient blood samples—to aid higher-level research.
The university’s Institute for Medical Research on Aging has also constructed a brain bank containing more than 6,000 samples, creating an international foundation for aging and neuroscience research. Combined with national-scale datasets from the Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation Center, these resources are opening the way for innovative studies in biomedical data analysis and precision medicine.
Clinically, Aichi Medical University is both a Regional Cancer Treatment Collaboration Hospital and a Cancer Genomic Medicine Collaboration Hospital. It has specialized facilities like the Cancer Center and Genomic Medicine Center, conducting around 14,500 surgeries every year and serving as a central regional healthcare hub.
