Although the university was formally born in 1991, its roots had been taking shape for several years. The establishment was a direct response to a pressing national issue: the overcrowding of Parisian universities, which were struggling to absorb a massive surge in enrollments—over 50,000 new students per year since 1987.

Municipalities donated land, the General Council provided facilities such as those on Rue du Refuge, and contributions came from the region, department, and urban communities.

MBBS Course Duration

The French medical program (equivalent to MBBS in India and abroad) is divided into three principal cycles:
